Nose surgery

Am I able to have nose surgery?
Surgery is done on the nose by thousands of people each year, either for cosmetic purposes or to correct structural abnormalities, or a combination of both. Cosmetic nasal surgery or Rhinoplasty surgery as it is also known can bring a nose into balance with the other features of the face, as the nose is the most prominent feature of the face, just small changes can make a very big difference in the way someone looks. It is very important that a person understand that just having your nose altered for cosmetic purposes will not make you look like someone else, but can improve the way you look and feel about your appearance. It is also important that you understand the risks and limitations of the surgery. As for the risk these are very few, the only major risk is undergoing the anesthetic or being “put to sleep” for surgery. But this is a risk with any type of rhinoplasty surgery that you may have to have at anytime.

Unless there are nasal breathing problems, usually very young people are not candidates for nose surgery. Because the nose continues to grow until about the age of 16. After which time, a surgeon can discuss the risks and possible complications of the surgery. He will also give you a realistic understanding of what changes are possible with the procedure, and the outcome that you can expect from undergoing nasal surgery. Whether its for only cosmetic purposes, to repair nose abnormalities or a combination of both. There are some cases of severe deformity or a severe injury in which a surgeon may do surgery on a younger person.

The surgeon will consider age, skin type and ethnic background preoperatively when considering to do nose surgery on a patient. The surgeon will also discuss where the surgery will be performed. What to expect after the surgery, your recovery time, and what you will need to do in order to prepare you for your surgery.
